OK GO “THIS TOO SHALL PASS”
When I see something like this all I can think while I’m watching is, “that took a long time to set up. that took a loooong time to set up. whoa, that took a few takes, and a long time to set up”. But damn that must have really taken a long time to set up. We’ve all seen these kinetic, domino effect experiments before in ads like Honda’s “Cog”, but these guys put such a fresh spin on it. The timing of the spoons making contact with the glasses and playing the notes of the song like a music box??? Brilliant! I personally gave them each one of their YouTube hits.
Now please excuse me while I watch this again for the 3,467,739th time.
eljay “TAKING NOTES”
Lil Jaz returns like the Jedi, minus the “Lil”. Actually, minus the “Jaz” too. Eljay is a sophisti-chic mix of turntablism and classical.
Swag points are at an all time high society if you can pull this one off at your next function. Fashionistas too must grab a copy if you want your runway trot to hit like Miss J’s.
IN HABITAT
When we’ve finally managed to plunder our planet into submission, rendering it a desert wasteland, things like trees and riverbeds will become memories that our children will have to try and recreate with sophisticated technologies (probably holograms) that are so close to reality that you can even smell the pine in the air. I hope I’m wrong, but these renderings by Ilkka Halso called “The Museum of Nature” paint such a world. Where long after reality TV, the show will be nature itself: untouched. A sobering message so beautifully illustrated.
DRAKE

Drake right?? Toronto’s got to be proud of this guy. And if you’re not you must be hurting right now. Drake puts it down and makes it look easy. And it doesn’t hurt that now he too is a gentleman.
Thank GQ ladies.
MOKO
Yes, it’s just the Vantage. Big deal. But set amidst Neo Tokio’s giants, partnered with its sexiest??
Big deal indeed.
ANTI VJ
Where motion graphics and architecture meet, experiential miracles happen. The amazing thing about all of this is that it happens in the “real world”. We’re so used to seeing dreams on screen that watching this demo is almost “meh”, until you take yourself into the realm of, “wait a minute, that’s a real building and the visuals are interacting with it’s surface”. It’s definitely a “have to be there” artform. Something the likes of which Toronto hasn’t experienced yet.
SPEAKER POWER
There’s something to be said about product design that pushes the boundaries of what it’s been intended for. Is it a speaker or a piece of art? How do they sound? I don’t care, they’re beautiful.
