IRIS SPRING/SUMMER 2010

Local TO design aficionados Merv Maranan, Michael Del Mundo and Ash Liang AKA IRIS drop their S/S 2010 line and we were there, camera in hand, to capture all the cool first hand. From the web to the canvas to the cloth these fellas are the goods, and they put together a night to celebrate their most recent endeavor that felt more like a night in NYC than the T-Dot. The retail space turned gallery was laden with original art on canvas illustrating everyday people doing their everyday business clothed in the new line. A beautiful night of art, fashion & music, and some strange “homegrown” beer.

WRONG BAR vs GASLAMP KILLER

We’re working with 92bpm on a series of web videos documenting the growth of the new electronic music scene. Where hip-hop, down tempo, and electro meet is where the realm of “cosmic slop” [for lack of an official term] begins. LA, the UK, France and Japan have caught on. Niche DJ’s -- or more fittingly “curators” -- of this sound have been holding the torch in T.O. since its inception. We don’t miss a beat and now you won’t either. This 1st installment documents one of the ambassadors of this eclectic sound, the infamous Gaslamp Killer as he does what he does best -- freaking the crowd with a little of the unexpected. Delightful!
Stay tuned!

GAP ADVENTURES TV IDENT

Working with Gap Adventures has been a long time ambition of mine so I was more than excited when they called on us to create an animation for them. The challenge with this particular project was in the sound design. They wanted something simple, easily identifiable and that represented two key aspects of the company’s profile: travel and harmony. They were looking for a “sound brand” similar to what Intel, Rogers and CTV employ. What we came up with used a combination of kalimba, African voices and some subtle airplane whooshes. Accompanied by the animation it won the approval of Gap’s creative team hands down … and with rave reviews. More.

LOVE’N'HATE SHOW OPENING

Working with Big Studios, the idea behind this opening was to reference -- very literally -- the most prolific Hollywood relationships of the time; J-Lo’s departure from Ben and into the arms of Marc Anthony, the Ashton/Demi/Bruce love triangle, and Britney’s thirty second Las Vegas marriage and divorce. Done in a campy 60’s-esque style it captured the essence of the programming that followed with its fun tongue-in-cheek humor. The show was such a success that the elements returned the next year for a sequel produced for the same network.More.
